Idaho
Ranked Last in the Nation* |
In 2007,
numerous daycare related incidents of poor child care were reported
to authorities in Idaho. A partial
list of incidents include child neglect, child injury, care
being provided by intoxicated care givers and by felons, care
being provided in unsanitary conditions, and children and infants
not being fed or properly cared for while in day care. Other
incidents are never reported or discovered because many child
care centers and day care homes in Idaho are not required to
be licensed or inspected, nor are they required to follow any
child care regulations or standards.
ALERT:
Idaho ranked last in the nation in a March 2007 State Report
Card on Child Care. Idaho fell far short of meeting basic requirements
needed to protect the health and safety of children in child
care, and to promote their school readiness. With states able
to earn as many as 150 points on the State Report Card, the
average state score was only 70 points*.
Idaho
received the lowest score in the Nation: 15 points*
